Breaking ice, renewing relationships and adding the hues of happiness to life…that’s what the festival of Holi is for! And how can Biztechians be left behind when it comes to celebrating these sentiments? On 10th March, despite of our regular work schedules, we eagerly waited for the evening to mingle over colours, food, games and more. Some waited for the clocks to strike 5:30 and some (the workaholics) were ushered out by the enthusiastic team members. Everyone gathered on the terrace to celebrate the spirit of Holi. So here’s a glimpse to what we did that evening:
Balloons have always been associated with festivals and entertainment. Even as adults, we always smile at the sight of bright and colourful balloons. We blow balloons and let them go or burst them…just like we get rid of our negative emotions and grudges against life. To celebrate the same spirit, a game called ‘Pop It’ was planned for the evening. The employees were divided into four teams and each team was given a unique balloon colour. Red, Purple, Orange and Yellow coloured balloons were blown and pair of two balloons was tied to each leg. Thereafter, everyone was divided in the pair of two and the task was to stamp on the balloon of your partner and burst it. A lot of stamping, bursting and laughter followed. There couldn’t have been a better form of catharsis! The team that burst all the balloons of the opposite team was declared a winner.
Build the Pyramid
We all at some point of time have made pyramid like structures by using different objects. Be it with cards, books or glasses. The next game was to check if we still have the potential to stack objects and build a pyramid like structure. Sheer nostalgia followed as everyone involved themselves into building pyramids out of the stack of plastic glasses. The condition, of course, was to keep the pyramids intact! The team that built the fastest structures successfully, won.
Relay races and more
When it comes to relay races, the good old Lemon and Spoon Race always tops the chart. And that’s what we played next. Teams were formed and each member balanced the lemon on the spoon. As the evening was nearing and sun sank lower in the sky, the hues of orange from the sun reflected off the yellow lemons that resembled moons. It was nature’s way of playing Holi with different elements. Three-legged race was planned next and needless to say, it was fun to participate in. After all, it celebrates the importance of teamwork, communication and problem solving. The mere values that Biztechians strive upon!
Last but not the least, we smeared and sprinkled colours on each other; sang melodious songs and feasted upon our favourite snacks and drinks. We were blessed to have the apt ingredients that made our Holi special. How did you celebrate the festival of colours? Feel free to share with us!
