The world of the Internet of Things is captivating. And it got even more captivating when it evolved into Industrial Internet of Things. For the past few years, Industrial IoT Solutions have carved its niche at the base of the digital transformation of different industries. This is because industrial innovation is no more a choice. It is an aspect that needs deep mulling and implementation.
As IIOT has brought along radical changes in which companies craft, manufacture, and operate machinery; nothing but an event named “from inspiration to implementation” would have acknowledged the fact better. On October 29th and 30th, companies belonging to different verticals got together in Atlanta, Georgia for the Industrial IoT World Conference. There were several important learnings that the companies had from the conference. Today, we are going to share them with you.
So, get set and let’s go!
Get Out of the Comfort Zone
The Industrial IoT conference kick-started with IBM’s NA Industrial General Manager, Albert Opher. His motive was to inspire Future Forward leaders to become revolting when it comes to industry disruption. In one of his statements, he said that “The Future Forward Enterprise is not an evolution- it’s a revolution.”
He further added that companies need to get creative and mull over new competencies. One way to do it would be gathering the relevant data, knowing the technology in depth and hiring the right people to help. For example, companies like Sandvik, Whirlpool, and Maersk are making the most out of AI and blockchain to craft innovative business models. Are you ready to get out of your comfort zone?
Take Up IIoT Projects Based on Business Value
On the second day, David Meek, Global Leader for IBM’s Cognitive Plant spoke about refining the performance of IIOT solutions by transforming the operations. In his opinion, some companies ask for advice when it comes to working with Industry 4.0 projects. Now, as their major focus is on the data, platform, and IOT tinkering, they end up beginning in the wrong way.
To get over this, he suggested prioritizing projects according to their business value. He provided an example of a cement enterprise that first identified the energy efficiencies and operation conditions of their biggest plant. By doing so, they saved nearly 10% of finances which they could employ to work on their next project. Last but not least, he recommended that if you want to be successful with your project, skip the proof of concept stage to deliver value to businesses.
Augment the Data with Larger Perspective
Heather Preu, who is the VP of Global Sales GTM & Enablement at IBM, discussed with the panel of experts as to how the new technologies are revolutionizing the future of smart cities and Industrial IoT. He said that “There’s so much data and how do you do something it? Augment it.” He suggested that it is possible to augment the data by managing assets in the context of the system assets.
He further added that you must collect the data in real time. Furthermore, you can analyze it for putting individual asset performance in the context of overall operations.
Select the Right Platform
There was also a session about optimizing IoT delivery using the right platform. So, when you go about the platform, you must check its scalability across your organization. Not just that, it should be safe enough to prevent illegal connections. Last but not least, you must find a partner that has a good knowhow of the IoT industry.
The IIoT experts at Biztech have an experience of conceptualizing and crafting IIoT solutions that adhere to your industry. We have secure platforms which take care of the fact that the data that your IIoT systems generate is accessible whenever you need it. Furthermore, we also identify the issues with your IIoT ecosystem and address data access process whenever the need be.
March Ahead with AI-powered Operations
In the conference, IBM illustrated how Artificial Intelligence driven IIOT solutions can curb the downtime, find solutions easily and provide better outputs. It displayed a robot arm that had asset performance management potential. A shoe manufacturing company used IBM powered AI, IOT, and analytics so that it can better the production without increasing the finances spent on equipment.
If you wish to join the IIOT movement, Biztech would be more than happy to help. Over the years, we have joined with different technology partners who have acknowledged us as an ideal technology partner for developing Industrial IoT solutions. Why not get in touch with our IIOT experts and share your thoughts?
